Crafting custom concrete furniture since 2004

Michael Potts is an expert craftsman with decades of experience in concrete fabrication. Through formal study, untold hours of experimentation and a driving desire to continually refine his techniques, Michael and the Ideal Surface team regularly transform concrete into awe-inspiring art that will outlive us all.

In 2004, Michael began to transfer his expertise with traditional concrete work into the emerging artform of custom concrete furniture. His talent has been honed by formal study with master concrete artists. Michael attended the Advanced Countertop Design seminar hosted by the ground-breaking artist Fu-Tung Cheng in 2005. He returned the following year for the Fireplaces, Islands and Walls Seminar in 2006. Michael has also attended trainings hosted by GFRC: 2007’s Concrete Countertop Institute and 2016’s Outside Elements Seminar focusing on firepits and water elements. In 2008, Michael earned a Masters in Decorative Concrete from the World of Concrete.

Michael’s training enables him to partner with you to bring your vision for custom-crafted functional art to reality. Sinks, countertops, fireplace surrounds, tables, and chairs can be as ornate or minimalist as you desire when you work with Ideal Surface. But they will never be boring or forgettable.
